Huntsman: Possible VP?

This is just my own observation, but I think John Huntsman could make a great republican VP. No matter who wins the republican nominee, Huntsman could bring a lot to the republican parties table. As the governor of Utah he had a great approval rating as well as good fiscal policies and tax policies. What he lacks in spending could easily be made up by a good presidential candidate. Huntsman is also a great asset for foreign policy. He worked with Taiwan and China and to my knowledge has had no dissent with how he did his job. I think that if Mitt Romney takes the GOP, Huntsman would be a great running partner. Huntsman’s past is also a great story to be looked at. He dropped out of high school to play in a rock band and later went back to school and graduated from University of Pennsylvania. My hopes are high to see Huntsman as a big part of this election even though he dropped out of the GOP rave for the presidential nomination.

I think you have a good point that Huntsman can bring bring alot to the table but that’s not the deciding factor that the presidential canidate uses when picking a VP. I mean think back to last election. If Obama wanted to pick a VP who would have brought alot to the table he could have chosen Hilliary but he didn’t. I thnk the biggest thing that consider is whether or not they get along with the person. Obama and Hilary just finish a rough campain so they weren’t the best of friends and Obama chose Biden. So I think It’s all a matter of who Huntsman did or didn’t make an enemy of when he was running.

I think that Huntsman would make a really good VP for Santorum or Gingrich, but not for Romney. Oftentimes nominees choose VPs to complement themselves and strengthen themselves in areas where they are not as strong. McCain chose Palin to strengthen himself with conservatives due to his maverick record, for instance. Huntsman would be a great choice for Santorum of Gingrich, as he would be a moderate, economic-based Republican to complement the socially conservative nominee. Despite this, he has too much in common I feel to be of a good choice for Romney, who would be better off choosing another choice such as Senator Rubio of Florida.
